NFL Draft: Grimble signs free agent contract with Giants

No players with Las Vegas ties were selected among the 256 picks of the 2014 NFL Draft but two landed free agent contracts shortly afterward.

USC tight end Xavier Grimble, a former Parade All-American at Bishop Gorman High School, announced on Twitter that he inked a free agent contract with the New York Giants.

In 22 career starts during three injury-plagued seasons with the Trojans, Grimble caught 69 passes with 11 touchdowns. He was named a 2013 All-Pac-12 honorable mention.

Meanwhile, UNLV running back Tim Cornett, the school’s career rushing leader with 3,733 yards, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he had signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals while quarterback Caleb Herring said he was invited to try out at the Indianapolis Colts minicamp next week.
