Devin Williams was regarded as a Top 100 prospect in the Class of 2013 before stepping on the court at this week’s LeBron James Skills Academy at Rancho High School.
Now the muscular 6-foot-8, 245-pound power forward with the Clark Kent black rim classes has something else to put on his resume … one busted backboard.
Williams accomplished that feat Monday morning while finishing a baseline drive against Isaac Hamilton of St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif. Williams grabbed the rim from the left side of the basket after losing the ball on a challenge from Hamilton.
Snap, crackle, pop. Fortunately the glass didn’t shatter onto the floor. Still, it garnered plenty of snapshots from those in attendance including as you’ll see in the video Seth Davis of CBS Sports who was under the basket at the time of the play.

Williams, who is set to attend Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., for his senior year, played at Withrow High School in Cincinnati last year. He is considering over a dozen schools including UCLA, USC, Louisville, West Virginia, DePaul, Wisconsin and Xavier.
Williams played on a team that included UNLV commit Christian Wood of Findlay Prep and one of the top prospects for the Class of 2013, 6-foot-8 forward Julius Randle of Dallas.
