Catcher Anthony Susac’s two-run single capped a remarkable seven run rally in the top of the ninth inning to give the Fresno Grizzlies a 8-6 victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Saturday night at Cashman Field.
All seven runs by the Grizzlies (1-2) came with two outs in the ninth, denying Las Vegas (2-1) its third straight win to open the season and wasting a brilliant starting performance by right-hander Jacob deGrom, who allowed just one unearned run and three hits while striking out six over six innings.
Right fielder Cesar Puello and catcher Taylor Teagarden each had three hits for the 51s.
The four-game series concludes Sunday at 12:05. The 51s then open a four-game series with Sacramento on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. when former Red Sox star Daisuke Matsuzaka is expected to make his Las Vegas debut on the mound.
