The College of Southern Nevada remained in third place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference after dropping three of four games at second Western Nevada last weekend.
The Coyotes (27-20 overall, 14-14 SWAC) avoided a sweep by the Wildcats (34-14, 19-9) by winning the third game of the series, 11-4. CSN dropped a pair of one-run games, 4-3, in game two and 2-1 in the finale, after falling 5-1 in the opener.
Sophomore center fielder James Young was 4-for-4, including two doubles and a triple, with four RBIs and left fielder Grant Heyman and second baseman Tyler Brown each had two hits and three runs scored to highlight the Coyotes’ 14-hit attack in the game three win. Logan Hold picked up the victory in relief of starter David Kuzma, allowing two runs on four hits over two innings.
The Coyotes wrap up regular season play with doubleheaders at Colorado Northwestern Community College (14-35, 5-23 SWAC) on Friday and Saturday. CSN swept four games from the Spartans at home earlier in the season.
