Despite getting off to a late start, new UNLV football coach Tony Sanchez continues to do his best to build a fence around Las Vegas recruiting.
The Rebels landed their third top-notch local prospect on Friday night when Bishop Gorman linebacker Nela Otukolo tweeted his commitment to UNLV over Boise State, Fresno State and Wyoming.
The hard-hitting 5-foot-11, 230-pound Otukolo racked up 122 tackles en route to Southwest League Defensive Player of the Year honors for the undefeated national champion Gaels. He joins Canyon Springs defensive lineman Melvin Johnson and Silverado offensive lineman Justin Polu in pledging to the Rebels.

Otukolo was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com and garnered two stars fro Rivals.com. The national letter of intent signing period begins on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
Another player who starred for Sanchez at Bishop Gorman, two-way line star Zach Singer, recently announced he would transfer to UNLV from Kent State.
In other news Friday, San Diego State announced former Rebel head coach Bobby Hauck had been hired as … brace yourselves … special teams coordinator. Hauck had previously applied for the head coaching openings at Montana and Portland State.
