Former UNLV forward Anthony Bennett will have rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday his agent Jeff Schwartz told ESPN.com.
Bennett will miss all NBA pre-draft workouts, the NBA draft combine and summer league, Schwartz said. The surgery could keep Bennett out of commission up to four months.
Bennett is projected to be a high lottery pick. The ESPN.com story quoted two NBA general managers who said they didn’t believe the injury would hurt Bennett’s NBA draft stock.
“I wouldn’t blink taking him in the Top 5 as long as the surgery is successful,” one GM told ESPN.com.
Bennett tweeted this morning that the injury was a “minor setback.”

Bennett was bothered by left shoulder problems the final month of the season. He left UNLV’s 65-42 victory at Wyoming on Feb. 24 after four minutes complaining of left shoulder soreness. The injury at that time was called “brachial neuritis” by trainer Dave Tomchek.
