UNLV forward Christian Wood announced on Twitter on Wednesday night that he would bypass his final two years of college to enter the 2015 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-11, 220-pound sophomore was a second team all-Mountain West pick by the conference’s coaches after averaging 15.7 points and 10 rebounds while also tying for the team lead with 90 blocks.
Wood joins guard Rashad Vaughn, the Mountain West’s Freshman of the Year, in leaving early for the NBA Draft. Like Vaughn he also included a nicely produced video thanking UNLV coaches and fans in his tweet.
“I’m entering my name in the 2015 NBA Draft,” Wood said. “I think it’s best for me, my family. It’s always been my dream to be in the NBA.”
Wood is project to be a late first round pick by NBADraft.net which currently projects him going 26th to San Antonio.
