Green calls UNLV offer a “blessing”

Leland Green is just getting ready to enter his sophomore season at Redondo Union High School. Still, the 6-foot-2 is already talented enough to have garnered a scholarship offer from UNLV last week.

Green, who also has been offered by Northern Arizona and is on the radar of a number of other colleges according to AAU coach George Zedan of Pangos 16U Silver Elite.

“The first thing that came to my mind (when UNLV offered) was ‘Thank you god for this blessing,’” Green said after scoring 10 points in his team’s 54-37 victory over Q6 All Stars Elite on Thursday afternoon at Desert Oasis High School. “I’m just so happy to be offered by UNLV. It’s close to home and it’s another option. … I was really shocked.”

The 6-foot-2 Green is a well-chiseled 175 pounds and explosive. He looks like he could play free safety for the Rebel football team right now. He said he takes pride in his defense and being a team player.
