MyLVsports.com caught up with UNLV’s latest basketball commitment, former McDonald’s All-American Jelan Kendrick of Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, who committed during a recruiting visit on Saturday.
The 6-foot-7 wing forward, who originally signed with Memphis out of Wheeler (Ga.) High School and then played for one season at Ole Miss, was rated the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect in 2010 by Rivals.com. He is the third member of Dave Rice’s 2013-14 recruiting class joining 6-foot-10 Christian Wood of Findlay Prep and Lincoln County (Nev.) guard Dantley Walker, who is currently on his LDS Church mission.
“Coming in I didn’t think I’d commit so early,” Kendrick said. “I can’t wait to experience everything Vegas has to offer.”
Check out the interview with Kendrick below along with a video of a memorable dunk of his from high school.
