Las Vegas High School forward Ray Smith, rated the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect for the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com, announced on Twitter on Sunday night that he had verbally committed to Arizona.
The explosive 6-foot-8, 180-pound Smith averaged 24.7 points and 6.0 rebounds while also shooting 35.7 percent from 3-point range for the Wildcats as a junior. He picked the Arizona from over nearly two-dozen offers including UNLV, Louisville, UConn, UCLA, USC, San Diego State, Oregon, Georgetown and Washington.
Smith, who also comes in at No. 26 on the ESPN.com Top 100, is expected to miss his senior season after tearing his left ACL last week at the adidas Unrivaled Camp in Chicago. He had earlier starred at the NBA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.
