UNLV, on the heels of a Top 5 recruiting class, landed one of the nation’s top small forward prospects on Thursday when 6-foot-6 Derrick Jones of Archbishop Carroll High School in Philadelphia picked the Rebels over UConn and Auburn.
Jones is ranked the No. 22 overall prospect for the Class of 2015 by ESPN.com. He was the slam dunk champion at the Under Armour Elite 24 Game in Brooklyn, N.Y., in August.
Jones visited UNLV for the Scarlet and Gray Showcase in October. See his announcement and the reasons why he choose the Runnin’ Rebels in the video below
Jones is the second highly ranked prospect to ink with UNLV joining 6-foot-4 shooting guard Jalen Poyser of Orangeville, Ont., Canada.
